    Hello everyone!

I live in one of those old buildings that need special permits to change anything (according to every ISP I've spoken to) and the only connection I'm offered is a crappy ADSL. I really like the apartment and don't want to move. I find it strange that other occupants in the building have a CAT cable running through the main stairs and into their apartments and routers (not this apartment though), and everyone including us seems to have a coaxial cable that runs through the shaft— but noone will offer optical cable internet connections!

Also I can never get anyone to answer if I want to pay an ISP to upgrade the coaxial, or connect the building in some other way. Money is not an issue for me - working from home as a business owner requires a reasonable connection, but noone will even discuss it with me!

When I asked a couple of hungarian acquaintances about this, they simply paid for an upgraded connection and it wasn't an issue, even though they live in a building with similiar restrictions.

So - what do I need to do? Do I need to get the permit myself and then contact the ISP or what seems to be the problem? Please help me, I'm getting desperate (hence this post).

Sorry for writing in english but i'm new here and i haven't learned that much Magyar yet.

PS. I live in Budapest VI.
